If you are going through your own tough as nails, soul crushing, dark as night journey and need encouragement, I highly recommend reading "The Comeback" by Louie Giglio, Pastor of Passion City Church in Atlanta. It's a ladder in a deep hole to help your heart shine a light to see what God is doing in the midst of life's crushing times. God spoke volumes to me when I needed it most through this book. It is well founded in scripture and insightful yet written so personally. I felt Louie bring scripture to life with examples of amazing testimonies! He quickly points out that not every story is a Hollywood type Comeback. Sometimes our ultimate comeback is on the other side of heaven. As someone facing a life ending disease, it gave me eternal hope in the wake of devastating news knowing I will not be able to live a full, long life as a wife and mother to my family. I was in the darkest of moments. I cried out for God to give me hope in a seemingly hopeless situation. I begged God to let me see my child grow up with the answer not being the one my heart wanted. How do you face that? These are the moments in life that strip away everything! This book is exactly for those of us who do not get an Earthly miracle. It's also helping my husband prepare by clinging to God knowing He will be his strength. We are not living a "happily ever after" story. We're living our worst nightmare, worst case scenario. Yet even in such dark times, we found amazing hope, love, and light through "The Comeback"! Life changing! No matter what you are facing, this book will help you see things from a "God is painting a masterpiece" point of view! (Feb 2016)Update: July 2018I have personally experienced redemption, grace, & a miracle that Louie Giglio writes about in his book The Comeback. In Dec 2015, I was given a devastating end of life diagnosis with no effective treatment or cure. We had flown thousands of miles and sought the best medical advice. My immune system and body was shutting down and we were told to prepare and "make the most" of the time I had left. I didn't even know how to tell my 8 year old son how much I longed to see his 9th birthday. This book & scripture gave me hope in the face of death. As I started writing letters and making videos for my son to have in the years to come, God told me to STOP! I reread The Comeback & Jeremiah 33. God wasn't finished with me yet! I never went through any treatment or had a "medical cure". Well, over 2 years later, I am getting healthier, my body is in remission and I've seen my son's 9th & 10th birthdays! When I originally wrote this review, I honestly thought it would be a few last heartfelt words to impart hope in a hopeless situation. I am living proof that WE ALL have a Comeback, whether on Earth or in eternity. If you are reading this right now, know that this is written just for you! God placed this heavy on my heart to remind you that you are not alone, He sees you and knows your every hurt. Right now might feel like the end of something, but something new and great will be born from what you are enduring right now. If you haven't read The Comeback, I urge you to read it and refresh your heart and spirit through the word of God. HE is the ultimate comeback story and we are all precious to him. Maybe God allowed me to experience so much pain to write my original review, yet "comeback" 2 and a half years later to tell you this. When you feel the hope this book powerfully imparts through God in your life, amazing, unimaginable things will happen!
